Cass County authorities responded to a tragic scene early Saturday morning in Bloomburg. A 911 call at 6:31 a.m. led officers to a residence off FM 74, where they found a severely injured 9-year-old girl, Abigail French. She was rushed to a hospital but did not survive.
Jacki Kubin, who was also injured, managed to escape and alert a neighbor, who provided a description of a fleeing vehicle. Officers later found the suspect’s abandoned car nearby. Using a drone, emergency crews located the suspect, identified as Abigail’s mother, Allison French. She was taken into custody and treated for self-inflicted injuries.
French has since been arrested on a Capital Murder Warrant. The investigation is ongoing.
