Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – In a statement from the Juneau Media Center below, Best of Juneau nominations are open as of this week.

“Within the tight-knit community in Juneau, there are unique shopping locales, premier restaurants, and a wide variety of businesses all vying to position themselves as local favorites. But only an elite few will win the right to call themselves the Best of Juneau.

Nominations for the third year of Best of Juneau, presented by The Mendenhall Mall, are underway and will continue online through Feb. 7 at 5:00 p.m.

Whether you’re an owner, an employee, a customer, or a fan, this is the opportunity to let your voice be heard. Submit your nominations at BestofJuneau.org.

From pizza parlors and diners to automotive shops and plumbers, small businesses are an invaluable thread of the fabric of Juneau and need the community’s support.

Best of Juneau is a celebration of the companies and businesses that have endured, innovated, and found new and better ways to serve their customers.

After all nominations are received, voting will begin on Feb. 14 at noon.

Visitors may cast one vote per subcategory and can vote once every day through Feb. 28 at 5:00 p.m. to support their favorite local businesses.

As with any competition, credibility is vital, and so the entire voting process will be handled by a third party.

Gold and silver award winners will be crowned in over 150 subcategories, classified within nine main categories:

●    Activities and Entertainment
●    Business and Professional Services
●    Food and Beverage
●    General Services
●    Home and Garden
●    Lifestyle and Beauty
●    Medical
●    Shopping
●    Vehicle and Services

Winners will be announced on local radio, featured online at BestofJuneau.org, and published in the Best of Juneau magazine on May 31.

Local First Media Group Inc. plans to publish over 4,000 copies of the glossy, full-color volume to be distributed throughout the community.

Along with showcasing the winners, the magazine is designed to serve as a guidebook for both locals and visitors seeking the very best the community has to offer.”
