Sitka, Alaska (KINY) – The Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association (ALFA) and the Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust (ASFT) are hosting a Fall Hybrid Fishermen’s EXPO on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 9 AM-4:30 PM to provide educational workshops and training to new and experienced local fishermen as well as others with interest in the fishing sector.
During this EXPO, workshops and presentations will be offered in a hybrid format.
Participants have the option of viewing all presentations virtually through Zoom or attending select sessions in person at the Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (NSRAA) Conference Room, located at 1308 Sawmill Creek Rd. in Sitka.

Commercial and subsistence fishermen of all gear types will have the opportunity to attend free and interactive presentations on topics such as the possible start-up of a Regional Seafood Development Association in Southeast Alaska, Nobeltec TIMEZERO updates, NOAA marine weather forecasting, women in commercial fishing, North Pacific Fishery Management Council updates, updates on fuel efficiency and hybrid engine projects, and Alaska marine safety.
Presenters include Daniel Joram, Jeff Farvour, Chandler Kemp, Troy Nicolini, Linda Behnken, Lauren Howard, Eric Jordan, Leann Fay, Celeste Tyndico, and more.
Attendees are welcome to participate in as many sessions as they are able.
There will be a raffle prize drawing at the conclusion of the EXPO for attendees.

This series is part of a push by ALFA and ASFT to provide resources and educational opportunities for fishermen, especially those who are just starting out in the industry.
