Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Juneau’s Avalanche warning is still high as the second winter storm in two weeks continues.
In the avalanche advisory, issued by Tom Mattice each morning, it’s noted that the large volumes of snow are why the risk remains high. Additionally with shifts in temperature expected over the next few days, “the likelihood of natural avalanches continues to increase.”
Mattice also notes in his advisory that, “Its hard to predict how large these events could be. I don’t think we have enough snow to hit Egan Drive yet although we are nearing volumes that could begin to endanger homes.”
