Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Bartlett Regional Hospital welcomed a special delivery on Saturday – the first baby born in 2024.
Cosmo Jobsis was born weighing 10 pounds, 2 ounces, and is 21 1/4 inches long. Jobsis is the second child of Emma and Dylan Jobsis of Juneau.
Jobsis (2 ½ years) is very excited to be a big brother.
“The staff were absolutely incredible! I know that without the incredible staff, we would not have had the birth experience that we did,” said Emma, Cosmo’s mom.
Bartlett Beginnings gifted the family a handmade wooden rocking boat filled with newborn items.
The family is the seventh recipient of what has become a Bartlett Beginnings tradition for the first baby of the year.
The boat was made by Dr. Lindy Jones, an Emergency Medicine Physician at Bartlett, and his wife, Colleen Jones.
This year’s boat is made from Sitka Spruce donated by Icy Straits Lumber in Hoonah. With 300 babies born a year at Bartlett, Jobsis is the first of many special lives to be welcomed at the hospital in 2024.
