The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam where a caller pretends to be a deputy.

The scammer, using a spoofed local number, tells victims they must take immediate action to avoid arrest. Officials stress that the sheriff’s office will never demand payment over the phone.

Residents are urged not to pay, purchase anything, or agree to meet the caller.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call can contact BCSO at 903-798-3149 or the non-emergency line at 903-798-3876.
