
A school bus carrying 46 cruise passengers collided with an SUV on North Tongass Highway in Ketchikan on Thursday the 26 at approximately 9:08 am.
Ketchikan Fire Department, assisted by North Tongass Fire Department, and South Tongass Fire Department, responded to the crash, the bus was traveling southbound when it collided with an SUV, which then struck a power pole.
The accident resulted in the closure of the highway until 09:45 a.m.
The passengers and drivers were examined by EMTs and paramedics from the responding fire departments.
After being examined and cleared medically, 44 cruise passengers were transported back to their ship at Ward Cove via bus.
Two cruise passengers, as well as the driver of the SUV were transported to Peacehealth Ketchikan Medical Center via ambulance.
According to Peacehealth Ketchikan Medical center, two of the patients were treated and released, and one was transferred to a higher level of care.
KPU Electric linemen examined the power pole and determined it to be undamaged from the accident.
Ketchikan Police Department officers are conducting an investigation of the accident.
