Texarkana’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) recently honored Tom Moore by adding his picture to their Wall of Fame. Moore has served as a CASA volunteer for eight years, working to support children in foster care.
“I know many of the children we help don’t have a good chance at all,” Moore said. “The goal is to protect them, help them, and be there for them.”
CASA volunteers play a critical role in guiding children through the judicial system and helping judges make decisions in their best interest. However, the organization needs more volunteers, especially in Cass, Little River, and Howard counties, according to CASA recruiter Brittney Wren.
CASA serves eight counties in Arkansas and Texas and is looking for more advocates to commit at least 18 hours per month for around 18 months.
