A review of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency website shows that leases for nine properties in the state are being canceled, as of Wednesday, March 5.
Close to home, a lease for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration in Juneau, valued at $20, 520 has been nullified. That property is listed as being just over 1,500 square feet in size.
A second NOAA building leased by the federal government in Seward shows a terminated leased valued at nearly $23,000. A Rural Housing Service office in Palmer will be shuttered as well. It’s annual lease amount was valued at $540,911.
In Wasilla, a Natural Resource Conservation Service lease valued at $100,700 has been terminated, while in Anchorage, three federal leases, totaling nearly $2.9 million, have been canceled.
According to the DOGE website, all of its nationwide savings so far equals $105 billion. DOGE estimates savings so far of $652.17 for each American taxpayer.
The per-person amount is calculated using an estimate of 161 million individual federal taxpayers.
