KINY- The City and Borough of Juneau and the Central Council of Tlingit & Haida are inviting public comment on their Draft 2025 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Risk Assessment.

The draft outlines local hazards, how they affect residents and infrastructure, as well as the number of people, residences, and critical facilities at risk.

Community members can review the draft and submit comments by July 1 to help shape the final plan. A public meeting will be held June 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the CBJ Assembly Chambers, with a remote option for those attending virtually.

The entire draft Hazard Mitigation Plan is anticipated to be released for public review in mid-July. Once the plan has been reviewed and finalized it will be adopted by the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly and Tlingit & Haida and then will be submitted to the State of Alaska and FEMA for formal review and approval.

You can find the draft and details on how to comment at the City and Tlingit & Haida websites.
