The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council will feature new paintings by Monica Daugherty for the month of March. “When Flowers Dream” is a collection of paintings that she first started in 2019. Themes of mythology, geography and animism emerge through colorful, imagined landscapes.
Monica is drawn to the way myth reveals how the human imagination works collectively and creatively to illuminate big questions in playful, mysterious, or dark ways, and how landscapes can be portraits of our earth that reflect the mood of the human condition. These paintings are a personal attempt to grapple with the fluidity of our environment past and present.
Join us for an opening reception with the artist during First Friday, March 7, from 4-7pm in the Gallery at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center. This exhibit will be on display through March 29.
