Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Feb. 6 smoke was detected in the front office and Commons Area of Juneau-Douglas High School.

School administrators pulled the fire alarm and evacuated the school.
Capital City Fire/Rescue responded.

The cause of the smoke was a burnt out fan motor control switch in a storage area. CCFR investigated and gave the all clear for students and staff to return to the school at 12:10 pm. The school resumed regular schedules.

The Juneau School District maintenance department ventilated the area and began repairs. There were no injuries and no widespread damage to the school.
