A riot broke out Sunday morning at Riverview Behavioral Health, a psychiatric hospital in Texarkana, Arkansas, specializing in adolescent and adult mental health care. Around 9:30 a.m., the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department received a 911 call reporting that several juveniles had taken control of part of the facility and were using a metal object to break windows in an attempt to escape.

Police arrived to find several staff members trapped in a nurse’s station, surrounded by the unruly juveniles. Authorities coordinated a response with multiple agencies, including Arkansas State Police and nearby law enforcement, to safely resolve the situation. Officers in riot gear entered the facility, separating those involved and de-escalating the incident without any significant injuries.

Three juveniles, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on charges of inciting a riot and taken to a juvenile detention center. The remaining juveniles were returned to Riverview’s custody. No injuries were reported among staff, officers, or patients
