Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Tlingit & Haida) announced the promotion of Sabrina Grubitz to Public Safety Manager.
In this capacity, Grubitz will provide administrative oversight of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), which is housed under the Tribe’s Public Safety Division.
She will also serve as a liaison with all governments involved in emergency management, assist Compact communities with their emergency management activities, and supervise community volunteers and employees as it relates to activities under the OEM.
Grubitz will also oversee the Tribal Access Program, the Tribe’s own criminal background check and fingerprinting program, the First Responders Opioid Education Program, and the Tribal Homeland Security Education Program.

Her expertise in fostering these critical alliances plays a pivotal role in elevating our emergency response capabilities, ensuring our preparedness and commitment to safeguarding the well-being of our tribal citizens.”
Grubitz first joined Tlingit & Haida’s Public Safety Division in 2020 to serve as Emergency Operations Coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Health Administration from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
The OEM was formed in April 2020 to provide a coordinated response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic using the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The objectives of the OEM are to work in the best interest of Tlingit & Haida’s employees, tribal citizens, communities, and neighbors to safeguard the health and well-being of the Tribe’s employees, tribal citizens, communities, and neighbors.

Grubitz is Kaagwaantaan from the Eagle Nest House. She’s the daughter of Lori Kuntz and Eric Boone and the grandchild of Jean Boone-Hamar of the T’akdeintaan.
