Fire crews in Texarkana battled a massive blaze yesterday after high winds snapped a power pole, sparking a transformer explosion. The fire spread across 100 acres on Sugar Hill Road before crews contained it in about three hours.
Fire Marshal Larry Cook warned against outdoor burning in windy conditions, as flames can spread quickly. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported.
The National Weather Service has issued an elevated fire risk for northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas, and north Louisiana.
