A Texarkana man is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly biting a police officer earlier this month.

Davie Devante Harrison, 33, reportedly ran a stop sign on March 3 near Connella and Wheeler streets. When Texarkana Texas Police attempted to stop him, he allegedly refused and led officers on a chase, running two more stop signs before crashing his bicycle into a patrol car.

After fleeing on foot and jumping a fence, Harrison was caught by officers. While on the ground, he allegedly bit an officer on the inner thigh.

Harrison is charged with assault on a public servant, evading arrest with a prior conviction, and misdemeanor drug offenses. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of assaulting the officer.

He remains in the Bowie County jail on $132,000 bail. The case is assigned to Fifth District Judge Bill Miller.
