Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has announced that Thane Road will remain closed until avalanche hazard reduction can be performed.
Following two winter storms over a one week period, Thane road has been closed multiple times due to repeated avalanche concerns. While some reduction was performed on Jan. 19th, the second storm has lead to additional reduction action to be taken.
