JUNEAU — Tlingit & Haida will celebrate its 90th Annual Tribal Assembly, April 16-18, at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall in Juneau.

According to a press release from Tlingit & Haida, this year’s assembly will serve as a constitutional convention, where delegates will gather to help shape the future of tribal governance. The convention was called for by delegates during the 2023 Tribal Assembly.

“For 90 years, we have exercised our sovereignty, strengthened our laws and ensured our government reflects the voices of our people,” said President Chalyee Éesh Richard Peterson. “We will continue to meet and honor the resilience of Tlingit and Haida people. Through challenges and triumphs, our voices have remained strong, culture has flourished, and governance has paved the way for future generations.”

Approximately 120 delegates representing over 38,000 tribal citizens will gather for three days to hear reports, conduct elections and take part in the constitutional process.

Agenda highlights include the State of the Tribe Address by President Peterson, as well as presentations from the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Delegates will also elect an Associate Justice, Emerging Leader and Delegate/Citizen of the Year.
