A Bowie County woman serving 18 years for mailing ricin-laced letters to President Obama and others is asking for a reduced sentence. Shannon Guess Richardson, 47, tried to frame her then-husband for the crime in 2013. She ordered materials online, made the poison at home in New Boston, and sent letters with threats linked to gun control laws. Prosecutors argue she’s ineligible for a reduction due to the use of a deadly toxin. Richardson, a former actress, is currently in federal prison in Fort Worth. A judge in Texarkana is reviewing her request.
